Het schilderij is opgebouwd uit gelaagde verfstructuren en tastbare oppervlakken, waarbij de huid van het doek net zo belangrijk wordt als het beeld zelf. Elusive vangt de essentie van het ongrijpbare – een figuur die zich lijkt te verschuilen achter lagen van structuur, schaduw en textuur. Het werk ademt mysterie: een menselijke gestalte doemt op uit een abstract landschap van diepe aardetinten, verweven met scheuren en barsten als littekens van vergane tijd. Turquoise accenten suggereren hoop of spiritualiteit, terwijl de donkere contouren van het figuur samensmelten met de achtergrond, waardoor de grenzen tussen lichaam en omgeving vervagen.

In Silhouettes from a Distant Past ontvouwt zich een raadselachtig landschap van abstracte vormen en vergeten figuren. Tegen een intense azuurblauwe achtergrond doemen silhouetten op die doen denken aan half vergane standbeelden, ruïnes of mythische wezens uit een andere tijd. De compositie is gelaagd en fragmentarisch – alsof we kijken naar een herinnering die nog net tastbaar is, maar zich voortdurend aan onze grip onttrekt.

De aardse kleuren, verweerde texturen en ruwe penseelstreken geven het werk een archeologische sfeer: alsof de toeschouwer over de overblijfselen van een oude beschaving tuurt.
